During that spell he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, the League Cup and captained the side, featuring heavily as one of their standout players.

The 32-year-old has won 13 caps for England, and still holds the title for being the youngest defender to be called up to the national team – aged 18.

After he retired in 2019, he has gone on to become one of football’s most entertaining pundits on TV and he is also a club ambassador of Manchester City.
