The agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho has revealed that he is waiting for a phone call from the directors of the Italian club to give the green light for his player to join Manchester City, according to a report on CalcioMercato.
The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League champions in recent weeks and the move seems to be gathering pace.
His agent, Joao Santos, has admitted that he is waiting for the Napoli president or sporting director to ring him to begin negotiations.
Santos is confident that his player will be playing in the sky blue shirt of Manchester City next season.
When speaking about the current status of Jorginho’s move to City, Santos said:
City are working to satisfy Naples’s demands. Any moment could be the right one.
The player is in Brazil, I’m in England at my home waiting for a call from [Christian sporting director] Giuntoli or [Napoli president Aurelio] De Laurentiis. As soon as that arrives, I’ll go to meet the City directors.
City boss Pep Guardiola is eager to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season as the Citizens look to compete for every piece of silverware available next season.
Jorginho won’t come cheap but City seem prepared to pay whatever necessary to secure his signature.
