Benjamin Mendy returns to City training

Manchester City’s summer signing Benjamin Mendy is back in training after being out due to injury since September when he suffered ligament damage to his right knee that led to surgery.

Mendy was pictured in a Tweet from Man City’s official account today, along with Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph, who have also been recovering from injury.

The left-back, who was purchased from Monaco in the summer for £49.1 million, spoke about his recovery in an interview published on the official City website a few days ago.

When I started my recovery, I had in mind the semi-finals of the Champions League.

That was my goal, but I am coming back a bit quicker than expected originally so maybe it will be possible for me to return sooner than that. I believe in this.

I think it’s possible for me to come back within four weeks. It’s not a good thing to come back too soon and you have to take your time.

The next installation of the Manchester Derby will take place on 7th April at the Etihad Stadium, and it is quite possible that Mendy will be back in time to feature in the match.
