Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has ranked Kevin De Bruyne as the best passer of a football in Premier League history, as reported in the Mirror.
The former Ballon D’Or winning striker scored a lot of goals in his time, notching 158 times in 297 Premier League appearances.
But the BT Sport pundit admitted that a striker is usually only as good as the talent providing him with support.
Asked to name the best passers to have played in the Premier League by fellow former United man Owen Hargreaves, Owen named a Manchester foursome: David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and De Bruyne.
When asked to put them in order from one to four, De Bruyne came out on top, followed by Scholes, then Giggs and Beckham.
The Belgian’s inclusion certainly shouldn’t come as a surprise, with the midfielder’s scintillating form this season earning him worldwide plaudits as he pulls the strings for a Manchester City side storming the Premier League table.
Although eyebrows were raised over the choice to include Giggs and Beckham, two players who played as wingers in their prime, ahead of the likes of David Silva and Cesc Fàbregas.
