Manchester City have rewarded defender Nicolas Otamendi with a new contract extension which will see him stay at the club until 2022.
The central defender has been in fine form this season and has missed just one Premier League match all year, playing an important role in his side’s brilliant start to the campaign.
Whilst John Stones and Vincent Kompany have both struggled with injures, Otamendi has continued to play at a high level and thoroughly deserves his new contract at the club.

His original contract was due to expire in 2020 but City now see the Argentine in their long-term plans alongside England international Stones.
Otamendi has also scored four goals in the Premier League, which is the highest for a centre-back in the league at present.
With the ongoing concerns over Kompany, it’s vital that Otamendi keeps his his run of performances going to show he is worthy of the new contract at the club.
The Argentinian has improved under manager Pep Guardiola, like a host of other players, and his performances come at a good time in a World Cup year where he is likely to be a starter for his national team.
