Manchester City favourites to win the Premier League

It’s hard to imagine if any team will be able to stop Manchester City cruising their way to the Premier League title this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side are playing with a freedom and fluidity that we’ve never seen in the Premier League before and they already sit eight points clear at the top after just 11 games.

It’s their ability to score at will, combined with a shockingly stable defence that’s seen City create an already near insurmountable lead this early in the season.

After 10 games, City were sitting top on 28 points having yet to suffer a defeat this season. Twice before in Premier League history had a team started in such a fashion and on both previous occasions they went on to win the title, which bodes well for City.

Guardiola’s nearest challengers for the Premier League title this season are Manchester United and Tottenham who are second and third respectively on 23 points. Bet365 have both clubs at 14/1 to win the Premier League this season, while fourth-placed Chelsea are 16/1.

The former Barcelona manager himself doesn’t see the Citizens going the whole season unbeaten, especially with their toughest tests yet to come with games against United and Spurs on the horizon which will give us a better idea towards whether City have title-winning credentials.

With progression in the Champions League secured, City can even afford now to rest players on European duty to keep them fresh for vital league fixtures, at least until the turn of the year, which bodes well considering the congested fixture list in the Winter.

For now, City must keep themselves grounded and avoid any unnecessary slip-ups, seeing as history suggests they’re well set on the path to a title-winning season.
