Manchester City plotting January move for Lionel Messi

Manchester City boast the best and most prolific attack in the Premier League but that won’t stop them from looking to improve their options.

The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexis Sanchez have been linked with big money moves to the Etihad Stadium but Pep Guardiola is eyeing a blockbuster move for one of his former players.

According to the Mirror, City are plotting a world record move for Barcelona star Lionel Messi in January.

City have been linked with a £358m deal for the 30-year-old forward when the January transfer window opens up.

With his contract expiring next summer there has been a lot of talk about Messi potentially leaving Barcelona, the club he’s spent the entirety of his professional career, and City are a potential suitor.

The five-time Balon d’Or winner has been targeted by City in the past but things haven’t transpired the way they hoped.
