Aguero believed to have fractured rib in car crash

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero looks set to be out of action for six to eight weeks due to a fractured rib, after he was caught up in a car crash in the Netherlands, according to ESPN.

The Argentine has been in dazzling form for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, netting seven goals in his last eight matches, and the prospect of him being sidelined for six weeks would be a big blow to Guardiola.

ESPN’s sources believe that Aguero was en route to Amsterdam airport after attending a concert when his taxi driver lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a column on the side of the road.

City have confirmed the news in an official club statement:

Sergio Aguero will be assessed by Club doctors today after being involved in a road accident on Thursday. The City forward was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries.

If Aguero is indeed sidelined for six weeks then that would rule him out of City’s next eight matches, including huge league games against Chelsea and Arsenal and two Champions League matches against Napoli.
