Manchester City are reportedly interested in a cash-only deal for Alexis Sanchez, and will not allow Sergio Aguero or Raheem Sterling to go the other way in a swap-deal.
According to an article from the Independent, City are remaining hopeful that a deal for the Chilean can be agreed with Arsenal before Thursday’s deadline. Reports have come out from a number of sources stating that the Gunners would like a City player to come the other way in exchange, with Aguero and Sterling’s names touted as potential suitors.
Negotiations between the two clubs began on Tuesday morning after weeks of rumours and mixed reports. Arsenal’s stance over the whole transfer saga had remained the same – Sanchez will stay at the club. This has changed in the last 48 hours, with the recent backlash from the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool and players like Shkodran Mustafi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain demanding moves away.

City believe they can get a cash-only deal of up to £70 million to persuade Arsenal into letting go of their prized asset. Sanchez has claimed to be “desperate” to leave the Emirates this summer, which is a complete shift in stance after accepting that he may have to see out his final year in his current contract.
It was reported that representatives from Manchester United were in contact with the Chilean’s agent about a potential move, but his first choice remains as City after his previous working relationship with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.
