Manchester City have already spent a huge amount of money on full-backs this summer, and it doesn’t look as though they are finished just yet.
According to the reliable Graeme Bailey of The Gambling Times, Pep Guardiola is still keen to land Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand as he looks to bolster his defensive options.
Today, City confirmed the arrival of Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco for a fee of around £50 million. However, despite this being a superb signing and a much-needed one for Guardiola’s side, he is the only natural, senior left-back on the books.

Although Danilo can play at left-back, City are understood to be keen on having a backup, or rotational, option on the flank, and Bertrand has been identified as the perfect man for this.
It’s claimed by Bailey that City are prepared to spend a huge £30m on the England international this summer, but are reluctant to splash more than that on yet another wide defender.
However, Saints are claimed to be demanding at least £40m for one of their key players, as they look to avoid yet another summer of sales.
Bertrand has also been linked with a return to Chelsea this summer, but Guardiola will be keen to land him.
