Danilo signs for Manchester City

Manchester City have announced the signing of Danilo from Real Madrid as confirmed on their official website.

The Brazilian right-back becomes Manchester City’s fifth summer signing for a reported £27 million, after Bernardo Silva from Monaco, Ederson from Benfica, Douglas Luiz from Vasco da Gama and another right-back, Kyle Walker from Tottenham have all joined.

Walker will be Danilo’s main competition at City next season but he will get game time as Manchester City would need squad depth to compete in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

They both replace Pablo Zabaleta who’s joined West Ham and Bacary Sagna who is available on a free transfer after being released.

Danilo can play at left-back and in central midfield as well as right-back which is a massive bonus for the side.

Chelsea were the main competitors with Manchester City in the race to sign the Brazilian but since Dani Alves joined PSG, City stepped up their pursuit of the right-back, leaving Chelsea behind.

Another full-back in Benjamin Mendy is set to join Manchester City and he keeps on teasing his transfer to The Etihad on social media.
