Aguero to stay according to Manchester City chairman

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak has assured that Sergio Aguero will be a Manchester City player next season, in an interview on the club’s website, as reported by the Independent.

The Argentine forward’s future has been in question ever since Pep Guardiola chose January signing Gabriel Jesus in the starting line-up ahead of Aguero.

However, Khaldoon was adamant that Aguero will not be leaving the Etihad this transfer window and that his future at the club has “never been in doubt”.

“Absolutely, there has never been a doubt about that,” Khaldoon said when asked if Aguero would be a Manchester City player next season. “I have read a lot about speculation and it is ridiculous.”

Aguero, 28, scored 20 Premier League goals this season. So you can understand why Khaldoon isn’t willing to sell the clinical forward, no matter what the price.

City finished third in the Premier League this season and were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage by Monaco and if City are to challenge for major silverware next season, they will need Aguero.

The Argentine forward, who has been at City for six years, has become the main player for the Blues and keeping him at the club will be just as good as any major signing.

matchday.
