On Friday 26th May, the transfer of Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco to Manchester City was announced.
The fee is quoted to be around £43 million, which is not a high figure for a player of Bernardo Silva’s calibre in today’s crazy market.
The nimble footed playmaker is known for his exceptional technical ability and a footballing intelligence that belies his relatively young age.
He scored eight goals and laid on nine assists in 16/17, helping AS Monaco towards winning their first league title since 2000.
He is also very versatile, capable of playing in any position across the front line which must have appealed to Pep Guardiola. Even without a ball being kicked the comparisons between Bernardo Silva and David Silva have begun from the Manchester City fans, with most of them hailing the new signing as David Silva’s heir.
With Manchester City already having a plethora of attacking options, let’s see where would Bernardo Silva fits in this team.
