According to the Daily Star, Pep Guardiola is fearful that Argentine striker Sergio Aguero will miss the rest of the season after injuring his groin in the recent draw with Middlesbrough.
The Manchester City manager will find out today whether or not his talisman will miss City’s remaining four league games, with their top four position at stake. Aguero has been crucial to City being in the top four, after scoring 13 goals from his last 14 appearances.
If Aguero can play no part in the rest of City’s campaign, Guardiola will have to rely on his other striker, Brazilian starlet Gabriel Jesus to help them achieve Champions League qualification, with the young talisman only playing one full one game since breaking his foot back in February.
There has been much speculation on Aguero’s future at Manchester City beyond this summer, with rumours of a potential move not going away. These rumours have been ever-present since Gabriel Jesus joined the club from Palmeiras in a £27 million deal. Both strikers started together for the first time on Sunday, with both players scoring in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough.
