According to the Mirror, Manchester City are pondering over a potential transfer for Barcelona youngster Marc Cucurella, as his contract with the Spanish giants nears its expiry.
The 18-year-old Spanish left-back has also been linked with Borussia Dortmund, who are also well known as a club that looks to acquire the next top talents in world football. Cucurella is yet to sign a new deal with the reigning La Liga champions, prompting huge interest from other European rivals.
Pep Guardiola is looking to get younger replacements in defence during the summer, with the current crop of defenders apart from John Stones and Vincent Kompany being deemed too old or not up to the required standard.
Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy are all out of contract this summer and will most likely not be staying at the club, so the transfer of Cucurella could be a possibility.
City have one of the best academy set-ups in Europe, therefore may use their connections with Barcelona and their growing reputation to tempt Cucurella into joining them over German giants Dortmund.
City have received fantastic scouting reports, with Pep Guardiola and director of football Txiki Begiristain both aware of his potential having worked for Barcelona in the past.
