City put on a scintillating display to washout German side Borussia Mönchengladbach by four goals to nil 24 hours after the Manchester skies had prevented the fixture taking place as originally planned. Pep Guardiola’s side produced a deluge of their own as Sergio Agüero netted his second Champions League hat-trick of the season on his return to the side. Kelechi Iheanacho netted his first Champions League goal in stoppage time to add a richly deserved gloss to the scoreline.
Guardiola made just one alteration to the side he named for Tuesday’s postponed game, which saw summer signing Ilkay Gündoğan made his City debut. He almost crowned it with a goal, but he was unable to divert his effort wide of the despairing dive of Gladbach stopper Yann Sommer.
There was slight concern over the man he replaced, David Silva, but it was understood to be a precautionary move following Wednesday’s training session.
Here we look at four findings from Wednesday’s emphatic victory.
