Five former players who would thrive under Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola’s tenure at Manchester City is going swimmingly so far. City are perched at the top of the Premier League going into the Manchester derby, having won every game so far this season and boasting a +6 goal difference.

New signings such as John Stones and Nolito have bedded in seamlessly, while we’ve still not seen the likes of Claudio Bravo, Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane in sky blue.

But it’s always nice to look at the past and bring in a bit of nostalgia, so that’s what we’ve done in this latest feature.

We’ve picked out five players formerly of Manchester City who we feel would really thrive under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.

We’ve tried to balance it out by picking players from all over the pitch and paid close attention to those who fit into what Guardiola is all about and the philosophy he is known for.

Do let us know which former players you feel would thrive under Guardiola, by tweeting us @ReadManCity.
