Despite Manchester City falling to a 1-0 loss in their opening friendly of 2016/17 against Bayern Munich, new manager Pep Guardiola still had a number of positives to take from the game.
It was abundantly clear that Guardiola’s pressing style of play was being instilled into the City players but the squad were still some way off of playing the continuous tiki-taka football that the Spaniard oversaw at Barcelona.
Although some senior players, like Wilfried Bony and Aleksandar Kolarov, failed to impress in the first of a four-game pre-season for City, there were still others that gave Guardiola something to think about going into the weeks leading up to the Premier League season.
