Manchester City striker Ruben Sobrino has joined Spanish outfit Deportivo Alaves on loan for the 2016/17 season, with the option to extend the deal for a second year.
The deal was announced on the La Liga club’s official twitter account, with Sobrino pictured in a graphic wearing an Alaves top.

Sobrino spent last season with City’s partners Girona in Spain’s second division but struggled for consistency as injuries forced him onto the sidelines.
However Deportivo Alaves, who earned promotion to La Liga last term, have offered the 24-year-old the chance to play at the highest level and join them in a battle against relegation.
Alaves will be known to English football fans as being the opposition for Liverpool in their 2001 UEFA Cup final, in which the Reds were victorious.

The Spaniard will be looking to prove his worth in northern Spain, with hopes of being selected for his nation and entering the frame for a first-team place at Manchester City.
