Manchester City have opened talks with Spanish side Espanyol over a possible transfer for striker Mamadou Sylla, as per reports in SPORT.

The 22-year-old is available for around €1m (£850,000) and will be sent to City’s partners Girona if any deal is done between the two clubs. City are currently offering Sylla a five-year deal.
Ruben Sobrino and Florian Lejeune have both made similar moves in the last couple of years and returned to City in the summer after loan stints with Girona.

Sylla believes he is good enough to play in Spain’s top flight, but may have to spend a season in the second division of Spanish football to afford himself the chance of playing in the Premier League in the future.
A decision on Sylla’s future will be made in the comings days, with a stay in Spain or moves to City and Belgium the available options for the Senegalese forward.
