Contrary to previous reports, there does not appear to be a deal in place where Manchester City are unable to purchase players from Bayern Munich. According to Goal, there is no such clause in Pep Guardiola’s contract.
Bayern winger Douglas Costa claimed on Wednesday that there was a clause in place where he and other Bayern players would not be able join City.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, he said:
Would I be open to City if Pep called? It’s something he has in his contract, a clause that says he cannot sign any players from Bayern.
However sources at City are said to be unaware of any clause and say that the news is simply untrue. City have been linked with a couple of Bayern players, namely Costa himself and Thiago Alcantara.
The latter joined Guardiola at Bayern in 2013 and there has been murmurs of him possibly joining Pep at the Etihad.

But it seems, the incoming City boss is turning his attentions elsewhere when it comes to recruiting players. Having already confirmed the signing of Ilkay Gundogan, City have also been linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Blues have been prolific in signing players from the Bundesliga in recent years. We looked at some of the City’s Bundesliga imports in a recent feature.
