Manchester City leaked four as they fell to a heavy 4-2 defeat on the south coast to a buoyant Southampton side.
Manuel Pellegrini rested a host of players for their Champions League semi-final in the Spanish capital midweek. Aguero, De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany were among some of those rested as players such as Delph and Bony came back into the starting XI.
Shane Long opened the scoring and Sadio Mané bagged a hat-trick for the Saints whilst City’s goals came through Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored two nice goals to once again stake his claim for a starting spot in the first team.
City host Arsenal next in the league after knowing their European fate – and the game will be crucial in deciding which team bags a higher finishing position.
