Manchester City remain keen on Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte despite the Frenchman suffering a recent broken leg.
According to the Guardian, Laporte is Guardiola’s top defensive target as he looks to revamp and revitalise the City side.
The 21-year old will be sidelined until August after suffering the serious injury while on international duty with France. But that won’t have any effect on City’s interest, as they look to improve their defensive options.

Martin Demichelis looks set to leave the club while Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala have struggled at times and could also be on the move.
Vincent Kompany has had his fair share of injury problems and while he is likely to be given a chance by Guardiola, City are in the need of a younger defender.

Laporte fits the bill as he is quick, physically imposing and adept with the ball at his feet. It would be a risky move for City to fork out just short of £40 million on an injured player but appears to be a risk they are willing to take and have a guaranteed 10-year investment.
