Manchester City are set to finalise a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan at the end of the season.
According to the Mail Online, City are set to secure the midfielder’s services after he turned down interest from the likes of Arsenal, Juventus, and Liverpool.
The midfielder’s agent, Ilhan Gundogan – who is also his uncle – met with City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain in the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam, prior to holding a meeting with soon to be City boss, Pep Guardiola.
A deal for the 25-year-old will set City back £23m according to reports, as they put a five-year contract on the table for the Germany international.
The Bayern Munich boss has played down speculation linking him with a move for Gundogan as he tries to remain focused on his duties with the Bundesliga champions ahead of his departure at the end of the season.
When asked about a possible deal, Guardiola simply replied:
I am the coach of Bayern Munich.
