Manchester City are looking to sign Barcelona and Germany goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, according to the Telegraph.
The report says that City are close to clinching a deal for the former Monchengladbach man and he would prefer a move to City than Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool – with the sway of playing under Pep Guardiola a key part.

That also looks to be the case for Ter Stegen’s Germany teammate Ilkay Gundogan, who is also desperate to work with Guardiola.
City are set to pay £20 million for the services of Ter Stegen, which would then mean he would tussle it out with Joe Hart for the No.1 spot. Despite his Capital One Cup final heroics, Willy Caballero is expected to leave the club.
24-year old Ter Stegen joined Barcelona in 2014 but only starts in the Champions League and Copa Del Rey, with Claudio Bravo the first-choice for La Liga fixtures. It’s something that is believed to be frustrating Ter Stegen and he could well leave the club in the summer.

Guardiola demands a goalkeeper who is comfortable with his feet, as seen by Manuel Neuer, and Ter Stegen fits that profile. Joe Hart is not that type of goalkeeper but further competition from the German would likely raise his game too.
