Injury may prevent Raheem Sterling from representing Manchester City again this season, but the England youngster remains confident of regaining fitness in time for this summer’s major tournament Euro 2016, according to the Mirror.
The £44m man harbours hopes of wearing both Blue and White again in the coming months, targeting the last couple of games in order to prove his readiness for selection by Roy Hodgson.
Sterling suffered a groin injury in the first half of Sunday’s disappointing Derby defeat, adding to the injury woes that have ravaged Manuel Pellegrini’s squad all season. It has since been confirmed that the former Liverpool and QPR speedster will be around six to eight weeks as he recovers, which falls just in line with the end of the Premier League season.
Along with fellow City player Joe Hart, Sterling is regarded as a special case by England Manager Roy Hodgson, who is prepared to wait on the fitness of both. This would seem to indicate that they remain integral to Hodgson’s plans.
