Manchester City’s poor run against the top sides continued this Sunday afternoon as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of their rivals Manchester United.
A single Marcus Rashford goal was the difference between the two sides and the Blues once again lost two key players to injury. The game started promisingly for City as they kept possession and put pressure on United. However, on sixteen minutes teenager Marcus Rashford beat Martin Demichelis and slotted home what was United’s first chance of the game.
The second half wasn’t any better for Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit who mustered little other than a couple of half-chances and were lucky not to concede again. Chris Smalling should’ve been sent off for a second yellow late in the game but referee Michael Oliver failed to sanction the Englishman.
City are now only a point ahead of rivals West Ham and United who are 5th and 6th respectively. City travel to Bournemouth after the International break.
