Manchester City made history on Tuesday night as a goalless draw against Dynamo Kyiv was enough to see the Blues through to their first ever Champions League quarter-final appearance.
In a game which was marred by injuries to two of City’s first choice centre-backs, Kyiv failed to burst out of the blocks and take advantage of a makeshift home back four, with the Blues understandably content with the games lack of activity and urgency. Kyiv’s chances were limited with their best opportunity coming in injury time, but Hart was able to keep a coveted clean sheet for just the third time at home in the Champions League.
Chances began to open up in the second half with Jesus Navas hitting the post and Yaya Toure stinging Kyiv stopper Shovkovskiy’s fingertips, but a breakthrough never arrived and City found themselves on the end of their most successful goalless draw in their history by advancing to the depths of Europe’s most elite competition.
