Manchester City appear to be pushing a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan as one of Pep Guardiola’s first signings, as per a report in The Guardian.
The agent of the midfielder met with a City’s Txiki Begiristain at Amsterdam’s Conservatorium Hotel about a potential move and furthermore, the potential transfer for the 25-year-old could put Yaya Toure’s future at the club at risk and he may move away from the Etihad as a result.

Gundogan has a buyout clause in his contract of £23 million, and at the end of this season, he will only have 12 months left on his current deal.
Gundogan joined Dortmund from FC Nuremberg in 2011 and has made nearly 100 starts for the German side in the Bundesliga and has proven to be a key player in multiple seasons.

Although Gundogan doesn’t score many goals, he does play a key role in the Dortmund side. Toure, on the other hand, has played nearly 200 games in the Premier League and scored 57 goals.
However, the Ivorian is now 32 and Guardiola may well be looking for a new midfielder to build his team around for the future.
