It was certainly an afternoon to forget for City as a humbling defeat at the hands of Leicester on Saturday afternoon was enough to drop the Blues down to third place in the league standings. Events in North London later in the day enabled Tottenham to leapfrog Pellegrini’s men, with the added possibility of fellow title rivals Arsenal potentially forcing City even further down the table should the Gunners manage to pick up a win on the south coast tomorrow when they face Bournemouth.
The fact that City could have been enjoying life at the summit should they have won this vital match means that it counts as a very difficult one to take in what has been such an incredible season for the neutral. The Blues were very much second best in every area of the field today and were well beaten by a side nobody expected to be in this position come February- surely the Foxes’ title credentials should be respected now?
