Celtic have completed the loan signing of Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts until the end of the 2016/17 season.
The Scottish side had been linked with the 18 year-old Englishman, who has featured a total of five times for the Blues this term, for quite some time, with Roberts following in the footsteps of fellow City prospect Jason Denayer, who enjoyed a successful season in Glasgow last term before his current temporary stint at Galatasary.
Roberts’ had struggled for first-team action so far and has only one Premier League appearance to his name, which came in the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Tottenham back in October, with his other two cameo’s for City being reduced to Capital One Cup appearances in the wins over Sunderland and Crystal Palace last year.
However, the Blues signed him from Championship outfit Fulham for a respectable £12 million in the summer and rate the England U21 international highly, with a loan believed to be the best option for him at this stage in order to nurture his development.
Roberts becomes Celtic manager Ronny Delia’s second signing of the window and the youngster will look to return to Manchester next season with more first-team experience behind him.
