Manchester City kept alive their hopes of winning a quadruple as they reached the league cup final after overcoming Roberto Martinez’s Everton 3-1 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate. It was far from straight forward for Pellegrini’s men though as they had to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg, and their task became much harder in the 18th minute as Ross Barkley fired Everton into the lead.
City did respond soon after however thanks to a deflected Fernandinho strike and second half goals from substitute Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero saw City through to their second league cup final in 3 seasons. Here’s four things we learned from Wednesday night’s victory.
