Eliaquim Mangala may well have cost Manchester City far more than reported, according to a leaked transfer document.
Website Football Leaks claims to have got access to a document in which the Frenchman’s City contract details are revealed.
The original fee reported when Mangala made the move to City was £32 million while the document released Wednesday indicates that City paid £40 million plus for the Porto defender.
Porto owned just over half of the player’s rights, with Doyen Sports having a 33.33% share. Moreover, an Austrian marketing are believed to have owned 10% of the player’s services.

In a deal similar to the transfer that saw Carlos Tevez join the club, City had to fork out £24m to Porto alone for Mangala, while the total price came to a staggering £42m.
The 24-year old has struggled for consistency at City since his big-money move. Nicolas Otamendi, having joined from Valencia in the summer, has nailed down a starting spot in the City side and has been the preferred partner for Vincent Kompany when the Belgian has been available this season.
