It was a fairly turgid affair at the Etihad as Manchester City drew a blank against an Everton team that beat them in the League Cup a week ago. The rain didn’t help the occasion, which was lacking in chances throughout the first half. Everton looked dangerous on the counter-attack and created a couple of chances, which easily could’ve been converted. City stood firm, however, and managed to get back into the game and applied pressure to break the deadlock. It wasn’t to be though and as penalty shouts were ignored right at the death, a draw was arguably a fair result on the night.
