Having not won away from home since early September, Manchester City face a tough away game against table-topping Leicester City tomorrow evening.
With Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri declaring the league’s top-scorer Jamie Vardy a doubt with what he described as a ‘fever’, City will have to turn their attention to Algerian winger and one of the revelations of this season, Riyad Mahrez – who has a commendable 13 goals this season.
As injures go, Leicester will be without Jeffrey Schlupp and Matty James but could be boosted by the return of Danny Drinkwater who returns from a hamstring strain he picked up against Chelsea a few games back.
City will be without Samir Nasri, who faces a long period out with knee ligament damage, and newly-injured Vincent Kompany, who’s comeback against Sunderland only lasted 9 minutes before the same injury which had kept him out previously was aggrevated once again. However, Pellegrini’s side will be buoyed by the return of star-man Sergio Aguero who has been declared as “100%” fit by the Chilean manager.
A win for the Blues would see them go top of the table on goal difference depending on results today. Whereas Leicester will look to remain on top with yet another scalp at the King Power stadium, which has proved a tricky place to go for visiting outfits this season.
City’s notoriously dodgy defence, which has struggled to keep clean-sheets without their Belgian captain this season, will be put to the test by Leicester’s firebrand, counter-attacking style of football – which has seen the Foxes net a considerable amount of goals this season.
However, City will counteract such a threat by trumping what has been a clinical Leicester attack with its very-own ruthless grouping. Sterling, Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and a newly fit Aguero will certainly cause Wes Morgan and co. some serious problems at the back.
Expect it to be a high scoring affair with plenty of goals and excitement. Roll on Tuesday…
