Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero has spoke of how Manuel Pellegrini keeps the City dressing room in check.
Pellegrini was appointed Manchester City boss after months of turmoil following the reign of Roberto Mancini – who had reportedly lost the dressing room.
But unlike the Italian, the former Malaga coach adopts a more calm and conservative approach and Caballero believes that is something that the player’s appreciate.
Speaking to Goal , Caballero said:
I can talk about what he’s offered me. It seems that it’s key how he treats the player and how he speaks to them. What he demands of them and how he tries to convince the player so they can interpret his style of play.During the week, in training, that’s where it seems to me that he has convinced everybody he’s worked with; he has a way of working that keeps everybody active and happy. And when you go through a change of manager you can realise the difference. When you don’t have the opportunity to play a lot of minutes, you feel those differences. The truth is that with Manuel that doesn’t happen.

Caballero is currently deputy for Joe Hart in the goalkeeping department and the 34-year old is not envious of his compatriot. Instead, he says the competition keeps the two of them on the ball.

You grow because of the daily competition, because Hart is showing in every test that he is ready, game after game he makes it clear how good he is. The truth is that, physically speaking, he is enviable. As well as that he keeps improving. The only way to be at the top is to fight for your place from Monday to Saturday in every training session, and then the manager has to decide. I can’t only show that I am at Hart’s level, but also that I respect my team-mates and their exceedingly high level.
