Manchester City eyeing up move for Chelsea youngster

Manchester City are keen on Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda, according to Simon Mullock from the Mirror.

But they are not the only Manchester side interested, as United are also said to be targeting the 19-year old.

Musonda, a Belgium U-21 international, dazzled for Chelsea’s U-18’s last season and impressed against City in the two-legged final.

And City have said to be huge admirers of the youngster, who is yet to taste first-team football at Chelsea.

£10 million is believed to be the price that Chelsea would be looking for if concrete interest was shown.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho and Chelsea would like to keep the player at the club, but the fact he is not even training with the first-team means his chances are limited.

Musonda signed a four-year contract back in March but Mourinho has been reluctant to weave youngsters into the first-team picture – with only Ruben Loftus-Cheek seeing some game-time this term.

City may well hope that their incredible £200m City Football Academy complex along with a number of Belgians in the ranks will persuade him to join the club.

The likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Patrick Roberts, and Manu Garcia have all figured in Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team this season.
