Since his appointment as Manchester City manager in 2013, Manuel Pellegrini has divided supporters in some senses, his football on one hand has been a joy to watch, with arguably the best, and highest quality of football that City fans have ever seen. On the flip-side however, has been some poor tactical displays, coupled with some in big games, (Saturday’s game against Liverpool being a prime example).
Much has been said since he signed a new deal, there has been talk of certain caveats in his contract that will enable City to go for Pep Guardiola if he does indeed leave Bayern. The problem however, may arise if the Spaniard decides to prolong his stay in Bavaria, leaving few managers available who suit the ethos and direction of the club.
Carlo Ancelotti is a potential choice, but it’s worth pointing out that with his contract terminated by Real Madrid in the summer, City refused to peruse the Italian, therefore ruling him out of our plans. He’s an excellent manager, and from a personal point of view I’d welcome him, but looking at the view of Txiki, I think we’re right to avoid him. He’s a winner and an exemplary coach, but what he lacks is faith in youth, as well as often being maligned for shoehorning his best players into the side, often leaving them unbalanced, instead of picking players best to suit the formation and system.

In terms of football style, I believe he’s quite dissimilar from Pellegrini, and also Soriano. The latter said he wants us to stick to our values of pressing, and I don’t believe Ancelotti would have us doing that, we’d be sacrificing our principles, and therefore going against the ethos of the City Football Group.
It’s a very difficult situation, but I personally don’t believe the club have hinged their entire future on one man, (Pep). After all, the club will be here long after Pep, and the appointment of Vieira at New York City may yet be further indication that Txiki and Soriano see him as a potential Pep, someone who emerges from the youth set-up, one who will gain the respect of the players, and someone who is not afraid to make changes if needed.

What’s certain, is that the club won’t be sitting idly by, they have a plan for domination, both on a domestic and European front, and they won’t stop until they get there.
