Another loss and another tepid performance. We look incredibly leaderless without Vincent Kompany and seriously lack the creativity of Silva in the middle of the park. Badly need a win on Saturday to get back on track.
Manchester City Player Ratings:
Joe Hart: One of our better players and pulled off another string of fantastic saves. Still the customary poor kicking but he saved us from embarrassment again and showed us another European performance that he seems to get better and better at. Worrying to see him go off with an injury at the death: 7.5
Bacary Sagna: Better than Saturday’s showing. Hopefully the Paris stuff isn’t as fresh in the memory and was the reason for his improvement: 6.
Martin Demichelis: Again, an improvement from Saturday and timed some tackles well. However, we still found ourselves wide open at times. Three games for the veteran Argentine this season and 9 goals conceded… Coincidence?: 6
Nicolas Otamendi: Not his best showing. Passing wasn’t great, found out for the first goal as he went down needlessly and seemed to get dragged out a lot: 5.5
Gael Clichy: You could tell he hadn’t played in 7 months. Wasn’t terrible but didn’t add anything offensively either. Hope to see Kolarov back in on Saturday: 5.5
Fernando: Not a bad showing from the Brazilian. Offered OK protection and kept possession effectively. Yet seemed to go sideways all too often: 6.
Fernandinho: One of our brighter players in the first half and was one of the only players who seemed to run with directness at the Juve defence. Was oddly hauled off early into the second half even though he was seemingly rested on Saturday for this very game?: 6.5
Yaya Touré: I love Yaya but this wasn’t his best showing. Nearly put one in during the first half but his passing was poor and again his age showed with the lack of running and cover he provided. Fired a few wildly over. These aren’t perhaps his type of game anymore…: 5.5
Jesus Navas: Back to his usual self with crosses that didn’t beat the first man and a general lack of any sort of threat: 5.5
Kevin De Bruyne: Thought he was very poor. Seemed weak in every battle. Of about 10 crosses, only one was successful (that chance) and generally he didn’t get in the game enough. Out wide isn’t his position: 5.
Sergio Aguero: Not fair on the little man. The only service he got was a poor back pass from a Juve player. Other than that, fed off scraps all game: 6.
SUBS:
Fabian Delph: Put himself about well but seemed overly eager to impress. Should take it easy, would add to his game: 6.
Raheem Sterling: Gilt-edge opportunity that he had to score is the obvious talking point but managed to get into the good position. Brought on too late: 5.5
Willy Caballero: Had nothing to do. Hope this is his only cameo for the rest of the season: N/A
