Manchester City vs Liverpool: Player Ratings

Liverpool deserved the three points and it was a game in which we fully deserved to get beat. I thought Pellegrini was naive in not starting Otamendi and I’m still baffled by him resting our best player this season, Fernandinho. Still, we were poor across the board.

Manchester City player ratings:

Hart: Made some huge saves in the second half but just can’t kick the ball. Needs to work on his delivery: 6.

Bacary Sagna: Got caught too high up the pitch a lot and wasn’t his usual self – hopefully those tragic attacks in Paris haven’t got to his head: 5.

Martin Demichelis: Too old, love the man but not cut out to play a high pressing, counter-attacking outfit like Liverpool and it showed. Was slow and lethargic at times: 5.

Eliaquim Mangala: Tragic performance. Scored an own goal, passing was poor and was caught in position way too much: 4.

Aleksandar Kolarov: Some nice crosses in but ultimately couldn’t handle the speed of the Liverpool break: 5.

Fernando: Was exposed because he was partnered with Yaya in the two – which is never nice as help is almost non-existent from the Ivorian: 5.

Yaya Touré: Didn’t look or move right and was subbed at half time. Poor: 4.

Jesus Navas: Didn’t add anything going forward and he too was subbed at the break: 5.

Kevin De Bruyne: Some nice touches and played some good balls into the box but ultimately didn’t provide anything decisive: 5.

Raheem Sterling: Had some great chances but spurned them. The occasion got to him clearly: 5.

Sergio Aguero: Great goal, but isn’t 100% so can’t complain really. Least he didn’t get injured: 6.

SUBS:

Fabian Delph: Our best player today. Added energy and kept possession well. Nice shot at the end: 7.

Fernandinho: Again, added energy. Begs the question… Why didn’t he start?: 6.

Kelechi: Just because he’s young doesn’t mean he’s good? Wasted a lot of good chances towards the end: 5.
