Player Ratings: Manchester City vs Aston Villa

Not the prettiest of performances and one in which we lacked any sort of clinical edge. We miss Aguero’s decisiveness in the final third and it really shows – could’ve been 4 or 5 nil today.

Manchester City player ratings here:

Joe Hart: Had little do to, came out and smothered one in the early second half: 6.

Bacary Sagna: Thought he had a good game, worked nicely with Navas and attacked well. Solid defensively, as usual: 7

Vincent Kompany: He’s regained that aura of calmness about him and it translates into his game, won the majority of his duels and tackled and passed astutely : 7.5

Nicolas Otamendi: Absolute rock at the back, lost count of the amount of important challenges he made. Won everything in the air and in the end Villa didn’t get a sniff: 8

Aleksandar Kolarov: Linked up well with KDB and Sterling and had a glorious chance right at the end to win it: 6

Fernando: Won a lot of aerial challenges and made some good tackles, hit the bar right at the death: 6

Fernandinho: Fairly standard game from the Brazilian, battled hard and ran with energy: 6

Yaya Touré: Didn’t add much from his more central, advanced role. Could’ve done with one of his trademark game winners: 6

Raheem Sterling: Had a few great chances, including a header but couldn’t get on the scoresheet. Still one of our main goal threats and outlets but was left isolated when Bony came off: 6

Kevin De Bruyne: Poor game today. Wasn’t involved at all, probably due to his role as a wide midfielder. Missed a sitter too: 5

Wilfried Bony: Couldn’t do anything of note before he looked to have pulled his hamstring early in the first half : 5

SUBS:

Jesus Navas: Looked spritely, as usual, and everything went through him, but his end product lacked at times: 6.5

Fabian Delph: Hostile reception and one of the loudest and most vicious I’ve ever heard live, nearly scored what would’ve been a monumental goal right at the end: 6

Kelechi Iheanacho: Only got given 10 minutes: N/A
