Manchester City are reportedly interested in Sevilla midfielder Ever Benega, according to Sport Witness.
Pellegrini is fond of the Argentinian, 27, from his time in Spain managing Real Madrid and Malaga respectively; and is apparently an admirer of his qualities in the central position, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Benega has been a big hit since joining the Spainish outfit from Valencia two summers ago, but is only contracted until 2016; meaning a raid from City may well be on the cards as they look to take the pressure off the ageing Yaya Toure.
Valencia do have an option to extend his deal based on performances, which, on current form, seems very likely with the South American currently flourishing in La Liga after spending a year away playing for his home town club Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina.
With City’s already rich contingent of midfield stars, it seems unlikely that The Blues will make a move for Benega in the summer transfer window, but with Sevilla possibly wanting to part ways with a player for a significant sum of money; and with some of City’s midfield line progressing in age; it could be a smart move to bring the Argentinian in.
