Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he is satisfied with the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford despite the team not playing at its most fluent.
City, without the mercurial talents of David Silva and Sergio Aguero, lacked quality in the final third and there was instead more emphasis on their defensive display.
Nicolas Otamendi received many positive comments for his display at the back, in what many have considered to be his best performance in a blue shirt.
And though a compact, defensive philosophy is not normally the style which the Chilean adopts, he says he is pleased with a point in the circumstances.
“It is a good point. If you can’t win, then don’t lose it. People have said that we can’t defend and in the second half we did very well,” Pellegrini said.
City didn’t work David De Gea in the United goal as much as they would have liked to in the second half but Pellegrini still believes that his side deserved a share of the spoils.
“We lost so much possession of the ball and we had to concentrate. United had two late chances but overall is was close. I am satisfied with a point but I don’t like to play this way.”
