Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi has backed Sergio Aguero to return to his usual level of performance after the striker hit a last-gap penalty to give the Blues a much-needed win over Monchengladbach in the Champions League.
Otamendi, a compatriot of Aguero’s at both club and national team level, has spoke about the Argentine’s recent goal drought but believes he can now kick on after that all-important spot-kick.

“A top player like Sergio always focus on themselves and forget about any mistakes,” The former Valencia defender is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.
“His main goal is to be a threat in the opposition area. He showed a lot of confidence taking the penalty and that’s what we expect of him. He is a key player for us.
And though Aguero is widely considered to be the team’s deadliest attacking weapon, Otamendi was quick to praise the rest of City’s pool of attacking talent.

“But it’s not only about Sergio – we must not forget the rest of the attacking players. We also have (Kevin)De Bruyne and (Raheem) Sterling, players who in these kind of moments make the difference.”
