Opposition View: Sunderland

Greetings from Read Sunderland! I’m Chris Sparks, and I am here to inform all you Manchester City fans of what to expect when you travel to the home Black Cats this Tuesday.

What can you expect from Sunderland:

Not a lot if recent games are to go by! Having said that, Sunderland historically play better against the bigger teams and hopefully we can at least make a game of it tomorrow. Dick Advocaat remains defiant and with a bit of luck, his players will share his optimism and cause a cup shock. It would also be nice to get a bit of revenge from the 2013-14 final defeat!

Key Player: Yann M’Vila

M’Vila is by far Sunderland’s best player and if he can be at the top of his game on Tuesday, he may gain Sunderland a foothold against City’s fantastic midfield. The Frenchman has the ability to break up the play and control it in Sunderland’s favour, with the Black Cats needing to make the most of their possession.

Predicted Line-up:

Mannone, Yedlin, O’Shea, Brown, Van Aanholt, M’Vila, Rodwell, Toivonen, Johnson, Lens, Borini.

I think Dick will make a lot of changes with Mannone, Brown, Yedlin, Rodwell and Johnson coming in.

Read Sunderland‘s Prediction:

I think Sunderland may make a game out of it and force extra time, but City will have the legs to beat a Sunderland side lacking fitness.

Sunderland 1-2 Manchester City (AET)
