Manchester City have a number of players on loan this season and one youngster who will be having a longer temporary stint is striker Enes Unal.
Unal, a £2 million purchase from Bursaspor this summer, has been sent on a two-year loan to Belgium side Genk.
And though the fact that his loan spell is longer than what we usually expect, the player himself still believes he has a future at City.
Speaking to NTV Spor, the Turkishman offered some thoughts on his loan spell, shedding some light on just why he will be spending two years in Belgium.
The problem is that in England they are very strict on players from outside the EU that I need to play 70 percent of games for the national team over two years and obviously that is no easy task but that is why I have joined Genk on a two-year loan.
Amongst all the incomings at Manchester City this summer, there has been a theme of young players coming in. Patrick Roberts, David Faupala, Aleix Garcia have all been signed in the window – perhaps signalling City’s intentions to bring youth through in the future.
Unal, already capped by Turkey at senior level, clearly fancies his chances of making the grade at City and is already enjoying his experience in Belgium.
The football in Belgium is high tempo. I have been played as second striker and as the main striker, I am happy with both positions and scoring or providing assists. I want to prove myself here before returning.
Earlier in the summer, our friends over at Turkish Football gave us some great insight into Unal and the qualities he possesses.
