Kevin De Bruyne’s Manchester City switch is edging ever closer as the Belgian playmaker has agreed personal terms with the club, according to Jamie Jackson of The Guardian.
With personal terms agreed, all Manuel Pellegrini now has to do is agree a fee with De Bruyne’s current club.
Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have been reluctant to selling their star man and have rejected three bids from the dethroned Premier League champions already this summer – demanding a figure in the region of £55m. Although, The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson understands that Manchester City are willing to match that fee.
Pellegrini has clearly been looking to add creativity to his squad, whose limp defence of their Premier League title left fans pondering the question of who would be in charge of the ever-growing club at the start of the 2015/16, with the signing of Raheem Sterling and his summer-long pursuit of the 24-year-old Belgium international.
The news comes a day after the Blues confirmed the signing of Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi for a fee of £32m. If De Bruyne were to make the move to the Etihad, City’s summer spending would surpass the £150m mark in a busy summer at the Sportscity campus.
