City strike deal for Spanish striker

Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Ponferradina’s 23-year-old striker Ruben Sobrino, according to AS.

Sobrino moved from Real Madrid Castilla to the Segunda Division side last year and now has a buyout clause of one million euros, according to Mundo Deportivo. AS have mistakenly reported that he still belongs to Madrid, but have also stated that the Spanish giants are owed a percentage of any sell-on fee for the young striker.

This would mean that Real Madrid would recieve 500 thousands euros from City’s deal to buy the player, if the Manchester club pay Sobrino’s buyout clause. The Spanish forward helped Ponferradina to a 7th placed finish in Spain’s second tier in 2014-15.

AS state that Manuel Pellegrini would likely send him on loan to another Premier League side if the deal is completed, with the Chilean manager feeling that Sobrino will need Premier League experience elsewhere before joining City’s title challenge.
