Manchester City are ready to move for West Brom’s Saido Berahino, reports Neil Moxley of the Sunday People.
Albion are understood to have received enquiries from City for their hot prospect this week and City have reportedly asked to be kept in the know of Berahino’s situation.
Newcastle are said to be interested in the striker. Spurs have also been regularly linked with the England U-21 striker but City and their spending could potentially blow rivals out of the water.
West Brom would reportedly demand a fee in the region of £25 million for a player who hit an impressive 14 goals in the Premier League last season.
Stevan Jovetic has already departed and Edin Dzeko is set to follow, leaving City rather thin in the striking department.
Sergio Aguero has only just returned for pre-season and Wilfried Bony was not at the races as City slipped to a 4-2 defeat to Stuttgart in pre-season.
Kelechi Iheanacho has been a key performer in pre-season, so it would perhaps seem strange for City to go for Berahino when they already have a clever and talented striker on their books.
City travel to West Brom in their opening Premier League fixture next week.
