Stevan Jovetic has completed his move to Roberto Mancini’s Inter, ending a mixed spell in Manchester in favour of the black-and-white of the Turin side. He leaves on an initial 18-month loan, with an obligation to buy. City will make a loss on a player they paid for £22 million for in the summer of 2013.
The Montenegrin forward has had much of his spell here tainted by injuries, which kept him out of the side for large parts of his first season in England. Last season was not as unfruitful, but he was kept out of the side by the fine form of Sergio Aguero and the fact that Manuel Pellegrini has preferred to partner Edin Dzeko with Aguero rather than let Jovetic partner the Argentine.
The January signing of Wilfried Bony also cut down the chances of Jovetic getting playtime, and the emergence of bright youngster Kelechi Iheanacho has pushed him aside even further.
Jovetic has 11 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions since he signed from Fiorentina in July 2013 for £22 million, with 8 of those goals coming in the Premier League. Whilst he may not have had the most successful spell here, he won’t be remembered as a flop or a bad signing, as some aspects of the media would like people to believe.
